A look back at our vision & mission
Now that Klaro Cards has raised €750k, what are we going to do with that money?
If you've been following us for a while, you probably know that I usually prefer bootstrapping over fundraising.
So far, Klaro Cards hasn't reached break-even, and we had two choices:
-
Either go back to what we've done in the past: limit technical and commercial development to stay within the revenue from licenses and consulting.
-
Or convince investors to (re)put money on the table.
In full transparency, I had already secured the amount several months ago from our historical investors and a few new, close contacts. We're still within the circle of Family, Friends, Entrepreneurs & Fools. In the meantime, I took the time—calmly—to ensure that this was truly what everyone wanted.
Strengthening Our Commercial DNA
Building Klaro Cards' message and sales team has never been easy. Lack of experience from the founders, bad engagements (yes, we even got scammed), no clear go-to-market strategy. In short, what they say about technical founders is true: they may be great at building tools but often struggle with selling them.
That said, we're getting better over time. I'm especially grateful to Louis-Pierre and Marc for putting the train partly back on the rails, Harold & Sophie and the whole Start IT @ KBC crew for helping it get moving, and Klaro Cards’ shareholders and partners for giving it a chance to reach the right speed and destination.
So yes, you've guessed it: the funds will primarily be used to improve our marketing & commercial DNA. Our go-to-market strategy still needs refinement, testing, and key decisions. But it’s becoming clearer every day. I also know it will require strategic commitment—and we’re still looking for that too. If you see yourself as a true commercial game changer for a SaaS product, my DMs are open (please, no more advice—we've had truckloads already).
Sharing Our Vision
We’ve looked at our vision from every angle, tested all our competitors to see if Klaro Cards still makes sense in 2025—and our vision remains unchanged.
Information is more digitized than ever—the famous "data". The issue with data is that its marginal cost of production is virtually zero. As a result, we produce tons of it, about everything, in huge volumes. Ironically, clarity is inversely proportional to the amount of data produced. The more our brains are drowned in information, the less clearly they see. The more teams are flooded with ideas, projects, tasks, documents, and tickets, the less they produce.
Using Klaro Cards means choosing a different path. It’s not about producing even more data, but about making sense of the data that already exists. It’s not about adding yet another column to the team’s spreadsheet, but fostering shared understanding of the existing ones. It’s not about adding a thousand more rows, but focusing on what matters in a given context. It’s not about drowning everyone further in data, but taking the time to klarify, to extract meaningful information.
Continuing Our Mission
A company’s money always serves its mission. At Klaro Cards, we believe digital overload is avoidable. We’re convinced we don’t need more developers—but fewer. Not more features—but fewer. What we need is to empower non-technical people to take ownership of their databases, not build them for them and leave them forever dependent.
The first version of Klaro Cards allowed us to test those hypotheses—in various forms, in different industries, with and without consulting. We’ve learned a lot. Most of all, we’ve identified major areas for improvement. The funds we’ve raised will help us pursue our mission, especially by:
- improving the first minutes of the user experience, so crucial for adoption
- delivering the klarification experience on top of existing data sources: spreadsheets, Supabase, SQL databases, M365, ERP systems, etc.
- improving the management and oversight of complex projects within large teams
- enabling simple sharing of klarified information: website, portal, wiki, documents
- better connecting Klaro Cards to the digital ecosystem through strategic integrations
If this vision and mission speak to you, I sincerely hope to welcome you soon as a user, partner, ambassador, or team member of Klaro Cards.
Let’s klarify.
